Appleton, Wis. – May 23, 2013: WOW Logistics® recently named James Costello-Mikecz as the winner of its paper science and engineering scholarship. Costello-Mikecz is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He was presented the honor May 23 as part of the Wisconsin Paper Council annual meeting at the Bridgewood Resort Hotel in Neenah, Wis.

A Milwaukee native, Costello-Mikecz is majoring in paper science and engineering, with plans to eventually attend graduate school in paper chemistry or chemical engineering. While at Stevens Point, Costello-Mikecz worked as a tutor for America Reads, reading to and helping kindergarteners through vocabulary-building activities. He also is a member of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI), UW-Stevens Point chapter.

“Jim’s academic performance certainly placed him among the top candidates for this scholarship,” said Howard Kamerer, WOW’s president and CEO. “But it was his positive attitude and character that truly set him apart from all other applicants.”

Founded in 2010, the $1,000 WOW Logistics®’ scholarship is awarded annually to a qualifying student seeking their degree in the field of paper science and engineering from UW-Stevens Point.
