Appleton, Wis. – April 14, 2017: WOW Logistics Company® named Stephanie Thiel as the 2017 winner of its dairy science scholarship. Thiel is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was announced as the recipient of the award April 12 at the Wisconsin Cheese Industry Conference in Madison, Wis.

Thiel is majoring in food science. She hopes to pursue a career in a regulatory or quality control discipline within the dairy industry.

“Stephanie showed a passion for the dairy industry at a young age and continues to be heavily involved in it through work experiences and school activities. The achievement of her Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification, as well as her desire to obtain her ASQ HACCP Auditor certification and her cheese grader license are proof of this passion.” said Howard Kamerer, President and CEO of WOW Logistics®.

Thiel is currently working as a sensory panelist for the Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research, a supply quality specialist for Sargento Foods, and a general laborer for cheese at Babcock Dairy. She is also an active member of the UW-Madison Food Science Club, Association of Women in Agriculture, and the UW-Madison Dairy Foods Evaluation Team.

Founded in 2010, the $1,000 WOW Logistics® Dairy Science Scholarship is awarded annually to a qualifying student seeking their degree in the field of dairy or food sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
