WOW Logistics recently promoted John Fortney to Director, IT Infrastructure and Security.
Fortney started with WOW in 2020 as Senior Infrastructure Engineer. In 2023, he was promoted to Senior Manager of Infrastructure. In this role he oversaw the infrastructure department, effectively achieving departmental goals and meeting vendor expectations.
As Director of IT Infrastructure and Security, Fortney will continue overseeing WOW’s IT infrastructure, technology vendors, and cybersecurity strategy; as well as the development and execution of strategic initiatives to optimize infrastructure operations and support overall business objectives.
“I am primarily focused on driving the company forward,” said Fortney. “This involves implementing enhanced security measures and boosting connectivity across all sites. These steps will, in turn, improve network communications and overall process flow throughout our systems.”
Short-term, he plans to implement network uplifts to improve warehouse connectivity throughout the company’s facilities.
“These uplifts will also improve redundancies to prevent disconnects and become more adaptable to the functional needs of the warehouse,” said Fortney.
Long-term, Fortney will focus on making WOW more agile and scalable by moving critical systems to the cloud, implementing hardware across all systems, and applying a heightened security posture to ensure a blended environment with higher performance and elevated security.
“John is very skilled in technology and cares about customer success,” said Bill Myers, Chief Technology Officer. “Customers need reliability in Logistics. John’s ideas will help us maintain and grow that steady customer satisfaction and expand our range of technology tools and automation features.”
Prior to WOW Logistics, Fortney acquired 25 years of IT experience. That includes 15 years in roles such as Director of Technology Operations and IT Vendor Management at Performance Trust Capital Partners, LLC. He was responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of systems by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all software and associated systems.
