Appleton, Wis. – Sept. 30, 2016: WOW-We Care Charity, Inc. board members recently presented St. Joseph Food Program with a check for $5,200, earmarked for the organization’s milk fund. The funds were raised through WOW-We Care Charity’s first-annual Barnyard BBQ Bash, held over the summer.
“We had an excellent turnout for this, our first-ever, fundraiser,” said Tim Lisowe, vice president of human resources at WOW Logistics® Co., and president of the WOW-We Care Charity Board. “Our board could not be more pleased to be helping St. Joes with its largest expense.”
Held in July in at Tryba’s Simply Country Barn in Freedom, the Barnyard BBQ Bash featured barbecue food, music, and a country singing duel between Shannon Full, Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, and Jamie Wally, vice president of sales at WOW Logistics® Co.
The second-annual Barnyard BBQ Bash is slated for Friday, Oct. 6, 2017.
WOW Logistics® created the WOW-We Care Charity in 2015 as a way for employees and the company to give back to the community. Employees enrolled in the fund have a minimum of $1 each week deducted from their checks. To date, almost 70 percent of WOW employees are contributing to the We Care fund. The average bi-weekly donation among employees is almost $3.50, with the highest donation being $20.
Today, the WOW-We Care Charity is incorporated as a separate entity, with its own bylaws and seven-person board. The board reviews donation requests, as well as drives other charitable activities throughout the company. It is currently pursuing nonprofit 501 (c) (3) status.
